Virginia
Beach Schools are partnering with the Virginia Beach Public Library on an
exciting endeavor aimed to prevent Summer Slide, the reading regression that
takes place when students take an extended break from reading. Students often
require more than 9 weeks to recover the loss in reading ability due to
inactivity.
To support this effort, Kingston students are encouraged to participate using one of the following options:

Use this log
or create a log that indicates book titles or pages read. HAPPY READING!

summer break

Read and log at least 200 pages during summer
break

Complete the Virginia Beach Public
Library Summer Program
In September,
bring the student reading log back to school during the first week of school.
We will have a celebration of our students’ reading success with a SUMMER
