August 31st is a special day-OPEN HOUSE FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS IN
KINDERGARTEN!
Kindergarten Open House: Parents of
kindergarten students, we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 31st
at the following times:
AM Kindergarten at 1:30 (Chiaverotti and McMahon)
PM Kindergarten at 2:30 (McMahon)
I am excited to meet all of you. For the first half of our time
together, I will meet the children, they will meet their new classmates, and
they will check out their new room. The kids will remain in the classroom
with our K assistants and P.E. Staff while the parents, Mrs. McMahon, and I
will move to the meeting room for a short overview of our school year in
kindergarten.
Please check out my class blog as I will be updating it as often
as possible.
Speaking of
Open House/Meet and Greet you are welcome to bring school supplies tomorrow.
Please don’t write names on any of the supplies. If you don’t have your child’s
supplies for tomorrow, the first day of school is a great time to send them in
as well. J
Your child

tomorrow.

MEET AND GREET AND OPEN HOUSE!
Welcome Rainbow Valley Families!
I am so excited that we will be learning together this year!We will meet one another on Wednesday, August 31st @ 1:30PM. This time is for AM Kindergarten only. Mrs. McMahon's PM session is later in the day. Yes, both AM classes are at 1:30.
Please arrive on time.
We will chat with our new kindergarten friends for a bit, and then MOMS AND DADS you will be joining the K team for a short meeting in the MPR room which is located right outside of the k classrooms. Our wonderful k assistants and P.E. staff will be hanging out with our K friends while we meet.
If your child has his or her supplies feel free to bring them on the 31st. Please don't write their names on the supplies.
They do not need their backpacks at meet and greet. They do need them on the first day of school.
If you don't have their supplies on the 31st, no worries, the first day is great too!

Open House!
Thank you for attending Sneak A Peek and Open House.
I hope that you found the information helpful.
Reminders:
Please sign all paperwork and return it with your child on Tuesday.
Your child should ride the school bus if possible beginning the first day of school.
If you didn't sign up to volunteer in the classroom please send me an E-mail if you would like to be added to the list.
Some of you have asked, "What is room parent?"
Room parents are a critical part of our school year.
Responsibilities:
Recruit parent volunteers for stations
(Stations are our class parties-they are fun and filled with learning.)
Help with all PTA events- gathering volunteers, sending out email reminders, etc... Many super events will be happening in October!
Create a class list with student information that I will give to you
Asking parents for supplies for stations and other classroom events such as Field Day
Meet with me once at the beginning of the year
Maintain ongoing correspondence with me
Can you job share? YES!
Your child will need their backpack on Tuesday.
Your child will come home with his or her folder. Please check the folder and return any important paperwork.
Please initial your child's behavior calendar each day.
Please send in notes via the folder.
Give your kindergartener their special envelope Monday night.
Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep. (Is that even possible the night before Kindergarten? I hope that the letter and sparkles help!)

It's That Time!
I hope everyone has had a fun and happy summer break!
I will begin Extended Day Kindergarten testing on Tuesday, August 25th.
Please make sure that you have called the office to schedule a time for your child.
I am excited to meet our new kindergarten friends.
If you can't make it to one of the two scheduled testing times, DON'T WORRY!
Mrs. Widman and I will be assessing the kids during September.
Open House and Sneek A Peek will be held on September 2nd! Contact the office for details!
We will have two session.
One for my class and Mrs.Ellis' am class and a second session for Mrs. Ellis' pm class.
If you can't make it for session one come to session two!
The children will come to visit us, meet new friends, and see their new rooms for about 30 minutes with their parents. Then, Mrs. Ellis and I will meet with the parents for a short meeting while the children enjoy stories and games with our kindergarten assistants and P.E. staff in our rooms. If possible please keep younger refrain from bringing younger siblings.

2nd Day
Today was a great day in Rainbow Valley.
The children were engaged in learning.
Our tables are finally named! Does your child know what his or her table's name is?
We have the following names:
Take turns, clean up, self-control, be kind, share, and respect. We are learning about what it means to be a hardworking citizen in our class and our table names reflect that and so does our behavior.
Many of our friends have moved their stars and have added tickets to their table's cup. If your child has moved his or her star or earned tickets, can they tell you how they earned that recognition? These are great conversations to be having at home. We are setting high expectations and appreciate you doing the same for our kindergarten friends.
When I would like the children to refocus or transition we say, "Please give me five."
Ask your child about this.
Did you hear that the Dish and The Spoon ran away AGAIN?
Today we found them in Mr. Fritz's room. He is our music teacher.
REMINDER: If you haven't returned all Open House paper work please do so by Friday. :)
Calling ALL MYSTERY READERS!!! Please return your form as soon as possible. The slots fill up fast. I will do my very best to accommodate everyone.

Tuesday Is Almost Here!
Happy Friday Rainbow Valley Friends!
I am excited to begin learning with all of you on Monday.
Please remember that every child will need to come to school with a backpack. Please be sure your child's name is on it.
Be sure to have a good, healthy breakfast.
If you haven't gone through our Open House packet please do so before Tuesday.
Arrival time is no earlier than 8:25. Dismissal is @ 11:50.
Enjoy your special family time this weekend and the last few days of summer.

Welcome!
It has been really nice meeting many of my new kindergarten friends during EDK testing.
If I haven't met you yet, I hope to soon.
Wednesday, August 27th will be Kindergarten Meet and Greet and Open House.
You will need to come to either the 1:30PM-2:30PM session or 5:30PM-6:30PM.
Please bring your school supplies. You may keep your backpack at home. :)

Parents: I will meet my new kindergarten friends for a bit then the children will enjoy some activities in Room 11 (our classroom) with the other teachers and teacher assistants as we meet (just the adults) in the library for a presentation.

OPEN HOUSE/ MEET AND GREET

I look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday. Our class' Open House is from 11-12. Yes, room 11 is from 11-12 NOT 1-2.
If you can't make it, don't worry! I will post the entire Open House presentation on this blog.
We would love it if you could bring your supplies to Open House. Need a supply list? The office has one for you.
We have had questions about marble composition books. We are requesting the type that are blank on the top of the page and lines on the bottom. I have heard Target, Office Depot, Office Max had "some."
Please put your child's name on their book bag, plastic rectangular pencil case and coat. Don't worry about labeling anything else. We will organize the supplies.
Please become a blog follower. You can post comments if you are a follower. It would be AWESOME of every family followed our blog.
