Writing

In writing the following skills will be taught and will be practiced daily:drawing pictures that are life like (the person should look like a person)

  • labeling pictures
  • writing the code date
  • spelling words by using beginning and ending sounds (if you see that your child needs extra help with identifying medial sounds, please review those as well) Your child should be applying in their writing what he or she is learning in word study.
  • uppercase letter at the beginning of a sentence
  • finger spaces
  • stretching their words
  • punctuation at end of a sentence
  • When using the word I it needs to be uppercase

Please practice at home as often as possible:
-writing first and last name
-forming letters the school way

Math Fun

The 1st marking period Parental letter will go home with each student. Please refer to that letter when working on math skills with your child.

Please encourage your child to visit THE EVERYDAY MATH ONLINE GAMES as often as possible.If you child is breezing through the EARLY CHILDHOOD games they can move to the other sections. If your child is having trouble accessing this at home. Please let me know.

identifying a circle, square, triangle, rectangle,rhombus, hexagon, trapezoid,

your child should know their phone number and address

create and solve addition and subtraction number stories

identify coins & a dollar bill and know their values




Our visit from Mr. Robinson

On April 28th we had a very special guest visit our classroom. The Secretary Of Education for the state of Virginia. He was delighted to see how our kindergarten students are learning through the use of technology.
