Thank YOU!

I wanted to take this last post of the year and thank EVERY RAINBOW VALLEY FAMILY for making this year such a successful one.  Each of you welcomed Mrs. Stinard and Mrs. Ventura with open arms, and welcomed me with open arms when I returned in October.  Being your child's teacher has been a blessing in my life. This year has been filled with success story after success story.  I can't thank you enough for being so supportive of your child and their teachers. Your children are reading and writing, and caring for one another because of our teamwork.
Thank you again for setting such a fabulous example for them.
I look forward to seeing you around John B. Dey over the next few years. If you are moving, I am just an E-mail away.
Thank you again for making teaching THE BEST JOB ON EARTH ! :)

Field Day T-Shirts

The Field Day shirts are supposed to be here before the children leave today.
If for some reason they do not get here, I will make sure they get them before they go out to the field tomorrow.
Also, we are the color orange. If your child doesn't have an orange shirt don't worry about it.
Please check your child's folder there is a note about Field Day in it. Please read it.
Thanks!

Charlie the Caterpillar

Today, we read Charlie the Caterpillar, which is od book for teaching such a good lesson about being a true friend. We charted Charlie's characteristics and feelings throughout the story, then we wrote about them.

Non-Fiction Authors and Illustrators

The children have been busily working on their own non-fiction books for weeks.
They are finished!  Today they practiced reading their books to a partner. Next week they will read to another kindergarten class. Then, we will send them home for you to enjoy.  My heart melted today when a child said, "Can we write another book?"  Love, love, love that these children love learning!!
My suggestion was to write books all summer long! :)  I hope that every family with continue to keep this spark lit.

THEY ARE HATCHING!!!

Well, I am happy to announce the birth of our Painted lady butterflies. At 11:30am this morning our first one hatched. Our morning class friends had just left and our afternoon friends were here.
The butterfly is doing well. It is busy drying off it's wings.  I added some sugar water to our habitat so that as the rest of them hatch they will be well fed over the weekend.

Learning Is In The Air!

Our friends enjoyed learning today from Mrs. Law. She taught us a great lesson today all about adding and subtracting.

A Mathterpiece (He! He!)

Our kindergarten friends are so engaged in their learning, and it is June!!  As you will see from this video the love learning!
I was assessing students today, and when I looked out at the class my heart melted as I saw these amazing students fully engaged in their learning. I grabbed the camera, and began to tape what I saw.

A Busy Day

Today we enjoyed hearing that Edward Tulane decided to open his heart to love again.
