iPADS

Headphones Needed:

Next week we will have the amazing opportunity to work with iPads! We will be using iPads often throughout the school year.

Please send your child to school with a set of headphones in a Ziploc baggie with their name on it by next Thursday.  These headphones will be kept at school for the year and then sent home. Headphones from the dollar store would be perfect for school.  If you are able to donate an extra set or two it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for supporting our learning!

Fabulous Friday

Another great week has flown on by in Rainbow Valley!  I hope your child will share with you all that we have been learning in class.

Today we went back to the library and checked out new books.  If your child did not return his/her book then they were not able to get a new one.  Please enjoy these books at home, once you've read them, fill out the reading log!!!  Many students are working on Reading Log number two!  Way to go!

If you have not returned your Mystery Reader form, please do so next week.

Thank you again for sharing your children with us.  We truly love seeing their smiling faces each and everyday!

We Love To Write!

I wanted to take the time to share with you more pictures of our students writing.  Today a student informed me that they were both an illustrator as well as an author!  Wow!

Today we sent home your child's first set of  sight words with an envelope to keep them in.  Please cut these cards out and keep them in the envelope in a safe place.  Review these cards nightly with your child.  We also sent home the Reading Logs, try your best to read with child for at least twenty minutes every night.

We truly appreciate all of your support at home!

Good Times

Wow! It has been so great to hear from Mrs. Stinard all about the learning that is taking place in Rainbow Valley.  I am so thrilled to know that everyone is trying their best with writing, learning about reading, following rules, and being kind to one another.
I have been busy doing alot of reading and learning too.
Each day I read many stories to Gus.  Some of the stories we have been reading are When I Grow Up, Go Dog Go, Goodnight Moon, The Cat In The Hat, and Are You A Bunny? You may have read some of these before. If not, check and see if they are in the library for check out they are really fun to read. :)
Keep up the great work!

Free Choice Writing Time

Today we had the opportunity to have "free choice" writing time.  As you can see by the pictures the students are having a grand time with their writing!

We also had our very first visit to the Library.  All students were able to check out books!  Please read the flyer that went home in your child's back-pack today regarding the library books.  Each student was so happy that they were able to actually borrow a book from our school library.  We hope everyone enjoys reading their books this weekend!

Thank you for another great week!  Have a great weekend!

Healthy Snack and Read To Self

I would like to share a few pictures with you!   You will see students enjoying a nice healthy snack.  We also continued learning "Read to Self".  Each student loves to read their books.  As you can see from the pictures, each student is in their own quite spot and is looking through fun books.

Today we also learned all about the numbers Zero and One!  We also had Day 2 of Making Meaning with the book My Friends.  We are in the process of drawing pictures, illustrating how a friend has helped us.  These pictures will be placed in the hall for everyone to see!

Fun Times In Rainbow Valley

What a wonderful Friday!  Congratulations to our table ticket winners - table 4!  All four students where able to choose a prize from the treat basket!  It was a tight race with all tables earning quite a few tickets this week.  We were able to go outside and explore our playground with Mrs. Ventura.  We heard the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and created our own hungry caterpillars which will be on display in our hall.  Everyone had a great time drawing in their journals.  What colorful illustrators we have in Rainbow Valley.

Please remember to check your child's folder daily and initial your child's behavior chart.

We thank you for a wonderful week and wish you all a great weekend.

In the Groove!

It seems like all of our Rainbow Valley citizens are getting in the "groove!"  Everyone wore a smile to school!  Today we started our day learning two new songs on our Smartboard calendar.  Ask your student to share these with you.  We also had our first day of music and PE.  We read two stories, the first being A House For Hermit Crab, which we followed with a picture of our own homes in our writing Journals.  We learned how to share our journals with our friends - that was fun!  At the closing of our day, Mrs. Stinard read I Don't Want to Go to School by Stephanie Blake.  I do believe it was a fun day not only for the students but for the teachers as well:)

Reminders for parents:  Please remember to check blue folders daily and return them to school.  This is our way of communicating with you.  Also please initial each day so that we know that you have checked your child's folder each night.   We do have snack time everyday, so please remember to pack your child a light snack.

Thank you again for sharing your wonderful children with us!

First Day of Kindergarten

Wow!  What a fabulous first day of Kindergarten!  Our friends were so happy when they came into Rainbow Valley this morning.  We were very busy.  The Art teacher came in with Mrs. Ward, we heard a story and started our art project.  Ms. Booth came in and read the Kissing Hand, and we each received a special hand with a heart in the middle.   We then had time to draw a picture in our new writing journal about the best part of our day:)

It was a busy day and a fun day as well.  We hope everyone went home wearing a smile and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful children with us.  What a wonderful year it is going to be!

*Parents:  School information folders went home today, please fill out the necessary paperwork and return to school.  If you have not sent in all school supplies please send them in as well.
